Our Team

John attended the College St. Jean and the U of A too long ago.  He obtained his CA designation in 1986 with an international accounting firm before starting up his own firm in 1992.

Although his hockey playing days are over, John loves to follow the Oilers but even more passionately, his grandchildren’s endeavours.  He is an avid golfer and always looking for an excuse to go for that long walk with a purpose.

Magda graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2010 and earned her Chartered Accountant designation in 2015 while working for a mid-sized accounting firm in rural Alberta.

When not immersed in numbers and spreadsheets, Magda is passionate about coaching/managing her twin girls’ soccer team as well as cheering on her son in hockey from the sidelines. Magda also enjoys unwinding with her family in the great outdoors travelling to new destinations in the family trailer, skiing in the mountains, or jet-setting internationally.

Amy joined Szaszkiewicz Group LLP in 2023 after working for a previous accounting firm with many additional years experience in the customer service and hospitality industry. She has been the friendly face and organizational force at the firm ensuring our clients feel welcome and cared for. When not working the front desk, you’ll find her unwinding by streaming the latest shows and spending time with her family!

Early in his accounting career, Mike specialized in insolvency work, gaining valuable insights into financial restructuring and operations. He earned his CMA designation in 1984 and soon transitioned to a controller role, where he played a key part in driving the company’s significant growth and success. As a part owner, Mike contributed to the company’s development before resigning in 2014. He then joined Szaszkiewicz Group LLP, bringing with him a wealth of experience.

In his free time, Mike enjoys tending to his acreage, golfing, and traveling with his wife. He also treasures the companionship of his dog.

Debbie has been with the firm for over twenty years greeting clients with her friendly smile and years of experience in office administration. Outside of work, she embraces her adventurous side through camping, hiking, traveling, and vacationing. Debbie is also a passionate chocolatier, dedicating time to perfecting her craft and creating delectable treats.

Brooklyn joined Szaszkiewicz Group LLP in October 2024 with a background in hospitality and a degree in Psychology. She has a passion for learning and growth in a new industry and is eager to pursue her CPA in the near future. Outside of work, Brooklyn loves spending time with her dogs and hanging out with friends.

Karen brings over 35 years of experience in the accounting and financial industry.  She spent half of her career in public practice, helping amazing clients navigate business and tax challenges.  The other half was spent in financial roles at an international media corporation, contributing to its successes while making incredible memories to last a lifetime.  Outside of work, Karen loves spending time with her family, especially her twin grandsons, cheering them on at their activities (and the Oilers, of course!), traveling to new places, and simply enjoying life.

Paul graduated from the University of Alberta in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and earned his CPA designation in 2013. Before joining Szaszkiewicz Group LLP, he articled with a mid-sized firm and gained experience as an accountant for a prominent property management company in the city.

Outside of work, Paul is a dedicated Toronto Raptors fan, though he doesn’t shy away from voicing his disappointment during the season. He and his wife also enjoy spending time  with their cherished cat, Lilo.

David earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in 2014 and obtained his CPA designation in 2016 while gaining experience at a mid-sized accounting firm in Edmonton. He later expanded his expertise by working in the construction and hospitality industries before returning to public practice with Szaszkiewicz Group LLP.

Outside of work, David enjoys playing golf and hockey. At home, he stays busy with his three young children, including twin boys born in August 2024.
